Partnerships

In Scoil Fionntáin Naofa, we are very fortunate to have a great network of local sporting groups and organisations that work with the school. As a result, our pupils receive a wide range of sporting activities during the school year. There are also many after-school activities taking place in the local area in which many of our pupils are involved.

Our Active Flag Committee for the school year 2023/2024 with the Active Flag which was achieved in June 2024. They have been very busy organising fun activities throughout the year. This flag is in place from 2024-2027. The Active Flag coordinator is Deputy Principal Mr. Johnny Watson.

Many thanks to a school parent for providing soccer skills sessions for all classes during Active Week 2024.

As part of our engagement in the 'Skip Around Europe' Challenge, we were the lucky recipient of a Climbing Wall which was installed by Small Wall School Products. Only one school was chosen from each county. It will be another fantastic outdoor resource for our school.

Pupils in our school with members of Colt/Shanahoe GAA who kindly presented us with a framed jersey for our school.

Our Boys and Girls 5 a side soccer teams who participated in the FAI 5 a side soccer blitz in Killeshin FC. Both teams progressed to the county finals with the girls coming second overall. Well done to all involved.

Many thanks to Fórsa Education Division for sponsoring a new set of jerseys for our school. Thanks also to DS Sports for the excellent designs.

Our Fantastic girls football team who reached the Division 4 final again this year, losing out to an excellent Kiladooley team. Well done girls. We are so proud of your efforts and commitment.

Tag Rugby with CCRO Dave Whelan. The Middle and Senior room have four sessions in Term 1.

Hurling sessions with Cian Moffit take place throughout the school year on Thursdays. We are very lucky to have his expertise.

Our victorious Girls Football Team who defeated Maryborough NS in the Roinn 4 Football Final in O' Moore Park.
A huge thank you to Laois Sports Partnership who came to the school to run the Couch to 1K/2K final run. Children in the infant room engaged in Couch to 1K and children from 2nd - 6th class engaged in Couch to 2K. 
Well done to all of our pupils who participated in a Céili Mór to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. A huge thank you to Aisling Davidson who prepared all of the pupils so well!!
Pupils from First to Sixth class got to participate in Tag Rugby this year. Bryan Croke from Leinster Rugby took the pupils for four weeks and taught them the basics of Tag Rugby. It was a very enjoyable experience for all involved. A huge thank you must go to Bryan and Leinster Rugby for kindly supplying the school with bibs, cones, water bottles and rugby balls. Their support is hugely appreciated by all in Scoil Fionntáin Naofa.
Hurling Training with Adam Duggan as part of the Games Development initiative in conjunction with Colt-Shanahoe GAA Club. 
Pupils from the Senior Room holding up one of two completed Aldi Sticker posters. A huge thank you to all of the parents/guardians for sending in stickers each week!
The pupils from all classes engaged in a Marathon relay run. A circuit of 100m was measured out by the Active Flag Committee and marked out using boundary poles and tape. Children then ran in relay format passing the baton to the next person. The children ran 420 laps in total which is a full marathon. This took just under 3 hours and 15 minutes which is a huge achievement. The oldest and youngest pupil in the school ran the final lap which was a lovely way to finish the Marathon run.  It was a very enjoyable experience. A huge thanks to Tim Carroll for supplying the boundary poles.
Our Soccer teams who engaged in the FAI 5 a side competition in Portlaoise Leisure Centre this year.

Well done to this student from 1st Class who has been doing 100 skips a day throughout the month of May to raise money for Dogs Trust Ireland! She has raised a massive €946 which is an excellent achievement.  Well done again from all in Scoil Fionntáin Naofa!
